Wanderlust’s bad-boy rocker, Alan Price, didn’t know what he wanted until it was gone—or at least heading for the door. Alan’s closest friend, Nora Barton, who also happens to be the manager of his band, has confided her attraction to a rival musician. Alan is stunned; even more so when the beautiful Nora asks him to teach her the sexual skills she’ll need to seduce the infamous Derek Devlin.
Alan tries to dissuade her, but Nora’s mind is made up. His only hope is to win her over the way he knows best—in bed. But even Alan’s prodigious sexual talents may not be enough to convince Nora to give him a chance to be more than a friend.
Alan shook his head as he crossed the small dance floor and strode on stage. At the sight of Wanderlust’s lead guitarist, the crowd erupted—especially the females. As many as could possibly fit wedged themselves front and center. Most looked familiar, a few were new faces, but all wanted the same thing—to be the one singled out by him. Their yearning shot a flame up Alan’s spine, searing him from head to toe. He started to play, easing into a long, sensual solo.
Beyond a doubt, this was Alan’s favorite part of the evening: the moments he gazed over the audience before making a certain eye contact, before selecting a partner. He scanned the eager faces, all made up carefully, exotically, each vying for him with the highest heels, tightest jeans, and deepest cleavage possible.
It was a rush of sheer power and excitement, fraught with the wild possibility that anything might happen to him on a night like this. His libido kicked into high gear, his fingers burned across the strings. Anything might happen.
What Alan did not expect to happen was to find his eyes drawn intractably back to Nora.
Away from the action, she sat alone and brooding, looking as glum as the rest of the crowd was inflamed. He had spoiled Nora’s night. Alan knew that, but for reasons he didn’t want to analyze at the moment, he didn’t care. He was just glad he’d gotten to her before that bastard Derek. The realization startled him. Since when did he feel so possessive of his friend?
Banishing the notion from his mind, Alan forced his brain back to the matter at hand. He had to pick a girl, and he strove now to make his choice. Which one did he want for the night? Not the blonde; too fluffy and insubstantial. Not the dusky beauty; she looked too intense, not like Nora at all. No, it didn’t matter that they weren’t like Nora. Or did it?
“Damn it, Alan.” Rob hissed in his ear. “You just dropped a line. Mind your music, would you please?”
“Oh, fuck me.” The microphone caught Alan’s curse and the crowd went wild, clapping and cheering his confusion. He rolled his eyes plaintively, seeking solace where he knew he could always find it. Only this time, Nora met his look with an obstinate stare.
He was not going to get out of this one so easily. Three years of putting up with his obnoxious behavior seemed to have finally taken its toll on Nora. He knew her as well as he knew himself. It was payback time; he could see it in her eyes.
There was nothing left to do but forget about sex and concentrate on patching things up with Nora. He played the rest of the forty-minute set without incident and without choosing a partner. During the break, he went over to her table and sat without speaking.
She was the first to break the silence. “So, who’s the lucky lady this evening?” Her voice dripped with sarcasm. Alan ignored the tone.
“No one. I’m not in the mood tonight.”
“Gee, I’m sorry to hear that. And just when I thought of a way you can make this all up to me.”
“Nora, I’m sorry for interfering, but that Derek—” She held up her hand to stop his caveat.
“It’s not your place to decide who I should or shouldn’t sleep with. I’ve never done that to you.” Alan rubbed his forehead uneasily, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
“So here’s what you can do to make things right. I’ve thought it through and it’s a good idea.” She paused. Alan dreaded Nora’s pauses; they never preceded anything good. He braced himself and forced out another apology for good measure.
“Forgive me, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make up for you missing out on that smarmy bastard.”
Nora was unruffled. “I need some tutoring in the finer aspects of seduction.”
Alan was sure he hadn’t heard correctly. “Huh?”
“I want you to teach me how to make love, Alan. Who better than you? Hell, you’ve screwed yourself silly all the years I’ve known you, now it’s time for you to share some of that sterling wisdom.”
His head had been shaking no from the second he understood what Nora was asking of him. Alan was still refusing, though the tightening in his crotch was making it difficult to be too resolute about anything. He shifted in his chair and hoped against hope she wouldn’t notice.
“I see your body’s in the game. Now I just have to convince the rest of you to play along.” So much for Nora not noticing. He’d better try the logical approach.
“Honey, believe me when I tell you I’d bed you in a millisecond if I didn’t think it would ruin our friendship. Everything I do is anonymous. No strings. I don’t have to think or worry about it afterward. Friends and fucking don’t mix.”
At precisely that moment, Rob walked by, cocking his ear nearly backward to try and catch the rest of the conversation. Nora smiled indulgently.
“It’ll be okay, Alan. You won’t have to worry about me, either. This is a mature arrangement between friends. Nothing can go wrong because you’re not the one I want, Derek is.”
Alan stared at Nora as if she’d just parted with her sanity. “You want me to sharpen your sexual skills so that sonofabitch can benefit? No way, I won’t do it.”
“I’m going to be with him whether you do it or not. I’d just rather it be you…the first time,” she stammered. “Not him.”
“First time? You’re still a virgin? That’s impossible.” A cold sweat broke across Alan’s brow as he held his breath waiting for her answer. Nora had just turned twenty-one, so it wasn’t utterly impossible. However, given her outstanding looks, he deemed it highly unlikely.
“I’ve been busy trying to make the grades to get in grad school. I told you I wasn’t very experienced.”
“Nora—in sex, there’s a vast difference between a little experience and no experience.”
“Then give me some, Alan, so I can know what I’m doing. Please?”
Raking his fingers through his hair, Alan squeezed his eyes shut. There was not a shred of doubt in his mind that he wanted to take Nora up on her offer—here and now, in fact. He’d lusted after her since the day he’d moved in next door, but after having his advances endlessly spurned, they had somehow found a way to become essential to one another. Nora was the person nearest and dearest to his heart.
That being the case, Alan reasoned, why shouldn’t he be her first lover? It did make some sense, and he loved her deeply—as a friend, he reminded himself. On top of it all, Nora was determined to do it anyway; if not with him, then with Derek. Alan had no intention of letting that happen—ever.
He expelled a deep breath, signaling his compliance. “You know the basic workings, don’t you? Tab A fits into Slot B, and so on?”
“I’m in mechanical engineering, I could graph it out on paper if I had to.”
“Oh, you’ll like the demo much better than the theory, Nora, you can count on that.”

She instead ends up being talked into swapping lives, with Jazz insisting it will be good and help her get over her broken heart.
Poppy is thrown into a new life, full of crazy housemates. There’s fitness freak Izzy, horrendously beautiful bitch Grace and the slightly gorgeous, if not incredibly grumpy Ryan.
Quickly, with the help of Jazz, her life is thrown upside down. Madness ensues and her need to please everyone gets her in more trouble than she could ever imagine.
Before she knows it she’s got a fake boyfriend and is hiding so many secrets she’s scared they’ll spill out any minute. With a bullying boss, a sex crazed colleague, a mental mother and three brothers each with their own dramas, life has gotten pretty difficult for Poppy. And all of this would be much easier, if she could just stop falling over.
Will she get her life back to normal before her brother’s upcoming wedding? And will she want to?
Poppy and Jazz’s lives sound perfect on paper. Jazz has a new baby and Poppy’s getting married. But their realities are very different.
Poppy must strive to keep her cool new job with crazy hours, while trying to keep Ryan happy. Before she knows it her wedding has got out of control, thanks to her mother, the runners at work are bullying her, her parents are in financial difficulty and she’s doubting everything and everyone she ever knew.
Meanwhile Jazz is struggling with motherhood, something a credit card won’t fix. Why won’t this baby give her a break? Will Jazz be able to cope before she loses it?
And will Poppy make it down the aisle? Will Ryan even be waiting?
‘Pops, you know how you drive me crazy,’ he says, more of a statement.
‘Oh, thanks,’ I drool sarcastically.
He chuckles again. ‘You do. You drive me crazy every single day with your escapades. I still can’t believe someone has so much bad luck. I mean, how could you have gotten stuck in Spain when Jazz goes into labour? You couldn’t make this shit up.’
‘Whatever,’ I say, choosing to ignore him, unable to leave Jemima’s face. Her lips have a perfect Cupids bow. I’d die for a Cupid’s bow like that.
‘Every single day I wake up and think, what madness do I have in store for me today?’
‘Thanks for all of the insults,’ I say, taking a deep breath and reminding myself not to raise my voice in front of Jem. She wiggles her head, and I’m surprised she has so much strength. She might be a shot putter. She could get a gold in the Olympics one day.
‘Well anyway,’ he continues, ‘today I suddenly thought that I’d like to be driven crazy by you every day. Every day for the rest of my life, actually.’
What is he saying? God, he needs to stop moaning in front of Jemima. She’s gonna think he’s such a bore straight away.
‘So I wondered…do you fancy driving me crazy, every day, for the rest of our lives?’
Huh? What on earth is he talking about? Can’t he see I’m kind of busy here?
‘Ryan, you’ve lost me. What the fuck are you going on about?’
He takes a deep breath and fidgets. ‘I’m asking you to marry me.’

Once I started kissing Micah, I couldn’t stop. Maybe it was because I was moderately drunk, or maybe it was because each time Micah pressed his mouth to mine, I lost a little bit more of myself.
I didn’t dare speak. Micah pulled out his wallet, threw some cash on the counter and pulled me out of the bar without looking back. We were barely out into the main section of the tunnel when Micah pushed me up against the cold stone wall. I pulled him close. He pressed his mouth to mine and I gave in to complete surrender. I had no idea how long we mingled there, lost in each other.
I was breathless and panting, still silent, when he pulled me from the wall and drew me through the maze of rooms to the exit. The electric buzz of the guitar bouncing off the walls faded. The constant push-pull of conversation disappeared. The rapid click-click of my heels against the ground became nonexistent.
Outside the rain fell like a heavy, pounding beat against the broken gravel road. If it was possible, the District looked even worse through the haze of rain. Darkened and bowed wood blocked the windows of nearby buildings. Rats scampered under awnings, clambering over each other to find shelter. At least half an inch of dirty mud and gravel-laden water spilled over the gutters and flooded the sidewalks.
The wind blew and the slant of pelting rain shifted sideways. None of it mattered. The second we stepped into the storm, we were drenched. We sprinted to the car, and each heavy thud of Micah’s boots against the ground sent up a spray of water to splatter my legs.
In the dark, the black silhouette of Micah’s car was little more than a shadow. The second we reached his car, his arms were around me. He lifted me off the ground, spun me in one fluid movement until my back was against the passenger door. Rain splattered off the roof, a heavy drum that matched our heartbeats.
His hands were wet and slippery against my cheeks. Pulling roughly, he tugged until our lips met, promising things I ached for. I clutched at his wet shirt, desperate to have him closer. I never wanted him to let me go. He slid his hands from my cheeks to my neck and then threaded his fingers through the tangle of my wet hair.
He used one hot, rough hand to palm my thigh. Heat from his touch spread and stopped the shivers of cold I hadn't even noticed. Micah pulled, urged my leg around his hip. He slid his hand up, up, and oh, God yes, up. He cupped my sex, rubbed me with sure, deliberate strokes. I was on fire. Pleasure warred with the tightening of my inner muscles. I was on the verge of climax when, instead of sending me over, Micah gripped the crotch of my panties and ripped.
My world spun. That was the only way to describe what was happening, what Micah was doing to me. He pulled the tab on his zipper. The rasp of metal sent a wave of goose bumps across my arms.
Micah pulled his mouth from mine. I opened my eyes and pulled in breath after breath. Our gazes met, held.
“Tell me you want me,” he ordered.
“I want you.”
His cock slid along my opening.
“Do you want me to fuck you? Right now, right here?” he asked, never breaking eye contact.

I stop in the doorway to her room. I can see her through the bathroom door in nothing but a towel. Is Ivy trying to kill me? A gentleman would turn around and pretend he never saw anything. I never claimed to be gentle. I take a few steps and I can see that she is frantically drying her hair. She keeps flipping it from side to side and over her face. Her hair is gorgeous. I want to run my hands through it soon. I freeze as she turns off the dryer. I figure I should say something before she sees me and has a heart attack.
“Hey! Are you about ready?” I look around her room so that she doesn’t realize I can’t keep my eyes off of her.
“Oh my God! You scared the crap out of me!” She grabs her towel and starts breathing heavy. To my surprise she quickly calms down and starts styling her hair again. “I’m sorry. I should have told you on the phone that I needed a little time to get ready.”
“Don’t worry. I can wait.” I tell her as I sit on the edge of her bed. She doesn’t seem to mind me in here, and I love the view of her focused on herself in the mirror and shaking her little ass in that towel. I watch the bottom edge hoping it will rise up just a little more so I can get a better view.
“Where are we going? I wasn’t sure what to wear.” Eaven interrupts my inappropriate thoughts as I struggle with my sudden lack of motor skills.
“Uh...to the lake. My parents have a boat and I thought we could take it out.”
“I’m glad I asked then, because I was going to wear a sundress.” She says as she is putting on lip gloss. I can’t take my eyes off of her lips. She is rubbing them together. I imagine how her lips will taste. Wait, did she say sundress?
“You can wear the sundress until the sun goes down.”
She looks over at me and smiles. “Ok, I’ll just bring warmer clothes to slip on when the sun sets.” It really doesn’t matter what she wears, I know I will appreciate her. She walks toward me and I imagine her dropping the towel, then shoving me back on the bed to climb over me. Damn, she doesn’t though. She grabs a little dress that was on the bed next to me and begins to rummage through a box on the desk.
I can’t stand it any longer. I walk up behind her and put my arms around her. Her back is against my chest and I lean down to inhale her scent. I whisper in her ear, “God, you smell so damn good.” I hear her breath hitch and she leans back into me.
“I want to rip this towel off of you and lick Every. Single. Inch. Of. You.” I say softly as I lick and kiss the crook of her neck between my words. She wraps her arms up over mine and hugs them to her chest. I feel my self-control slipping even more. I kiss down her shoulder as she stretches her head the opposite way to give me more access. A tiny little moan escapes her lips and I about lose it in my pants like a fifteen year old boy.

I look over and see Taron at the band’s reserved table talking to his twin. My eyes shift to his broad shoulders and the dark tight shirt that doesn’t leave much to the imagination. I have been in his arms a few times and I know that his chest and stomach are sculpted and just as defined as the shirt makes it appear. He has dark hair, almost black. He wears it messy so that it looks like he just got out of bed. The look really works for him. I know that he does put effort into his hair because I have been stuck waiting on him to get ready.
He jumps up to pester his older brother Holden and I begin to appreciate the view of his ass in those jeans. His jeans hang just right, just the way that I love to see. I have never let him know that I appreciate how he looks. He would never let me live it down if I did.
Eaven leaves me to make her way to Talon and I see Taron begin to search the room. He spots me and starts to look me up and down. His eyes never leave me as he stalks across the room.
“Poison Ivy! It is such a pleasure to see you out for the kill tonight.” He takes his index finger and runs it down my chest and into the valley of my cleavage causing my shirt to lower. He stops just before he exposes me.
“Do you want to lose that finger?” I really want him to continue, but I would never tell him that.
“I would love for you to take my entire finger.” He removes his digit from my chest and I know his meaning behind his reply. He has never been shy about his sexual desire with me.
“In your dreams.” I turn away from him to begin my walk to the table. He stops me after only a few steps. He grabs my hips to hold me against him. I can feel him invading my space again. He is consuming all of my senses. He leans down to whisper in my ear.
“Yea that pretty much sums it up.”
My body heats up as his breath blows past my ear. The sensation sends a shiver through my body and heat straight to my core. He holds me so close that I can feel how much he wants me as it presses into my back side.
“When are you going to quit playing hard to get? You know we will be hot together. You know you want what only I can give you.” He begins to sway back and forth with the music.
I want what he is offering me so much. I want to let go and ride the roller coaster that is Taron. I know there will be ups and downs. I just don’t know if I can hang on until the end and exit the ride safely. I don’t know if he will break my heart.
Usually I don’t let myself get attached to a guy. We have fun and then say our goodbyes. Taron managed to work his way into my life in a way that we are so beyond a simple affair without strings. I just don’t know if he is capable of what I want.
I want him. All of him. To myself. No sharing.
